Minnesota Fall: 3 Things to Do Now
Things to do in MN Fall: 3 Things to Do Now. Fall is here and before the last leaf drops from the trees, head out to enjoy one of these top things to do during the MN fall.
1. Pick Your Own Pumpkin: The best way to find our fall pumpkin is to pick your own straight from the patch. Head out to one of MN’s pick-your-own pumpkin patch sites before the best ones are gone. Many locations – including Pine Tree Orchard in White Bear Lake, Tom’s Pumpkin Farm in Lindstrom, and Pleasant Valley Orchard in Schafer – offer corn mazes, hay rides, music and other family activities.
2. Visit an MN State Park: Minnesota’s nearly 70 state parks are top destinations to view the fall colors. See brilliant golden vistas along the MN North Shore at Cascade River State Park, Judge CR Magney State Park or Grand Portage early in the fall season. A bit later, the colors will be bright at the more well-traveled Tettegouche, Split Rock and Gooseberry Falls State Parks, or Jay Cooke State Park just south of Duluth.
Across the state, get a different view of the colors at Blue Mounds State Park near Luverne, MN (close to Pipestone and Worthington, MN). See the MN prairie glow in the fall light. Also add Maplewood and Glendalough State Parks near Fergus Falls, MN, and Frontenac State Park near Red Wing, MN to your fall list. Frontenac is also a great destination to watch the fall bird migration.
3. Enjoy the Best of Minnesota’s Harvest: Fall brings the best to Minnesota’s farmers markets, and there are only a few short weeks before many close for the season. Northfield’s Riverwalk Market Fair offers fall produce, arts and crafts and live music in downtown Northfield, MN along the Cannon River. Hurry, it’s only open Saturdays until the end of October.
Fall is also time to enjoy MN’s grape harvest. Many Minnesota wineries like Falconer Vineyards, Cannon River Winery, St. Croix Vineyards, and WineHaven host fall wine tasting events and grape stomps.
