Fall is here and it's time to get out and enjoy the cooler days across Minnesota. Don't miss the tastes of fall – including fresh picked apples – or the great tours and cool hiking weather. Turkey races, a studio art tour, and micro brews are just a few of the things on "The List" in September.

Festival: Minnesota raises more turkeys than any state in the country – enough for every Thanksgiving dinner in the nation. Celebrate our state’s love for the bird of fall at Worthington, MN's annual King Turkey Day celebration Sept. 16-17. The weekend highlight is the Great Gobbler Gallop, when Worthington’s turkey Paycheck races a turkey from top turkey town Cuero, Texas, for the annual “King Turkey” title.

Theatre & Arts: The North Shore’s Crossing Borders Studio Tour starts Sept. 23.  Galleries and studios from Duluth to Grand Portage are open for tour, amid views of the fall leaves. Don’t miss Dale Burton’s iron work near Duluth, Jody Freij-Tonder’s handmade glass jewelry near Two Harbors and Betsy Bowen’s woodwork prints in Grand Marais. Along the way, dine along the Highway 61 Culinary Highway, explore Hidden Hwy 61 or stop at one of the North Shore’s great state parks.

Recreation:   Fall is a top time to hike the Superior Hiking Trail. Try one of these five Superior Hiking Trail top hikes for some of the best scenic vistas on the North Shore.

Taste: September is prime time to head to Bluffland in southeast Minnesota for a taste of fall and view of the brilliant fall leaves. Visit Falconer Vineyards and Winery for wine tasting and live music on the deck Sept. 4 and 24. While in the area, visit apple orchards along the Apple Blossom Scenic Byway, or head to one of these mn apple orchards around the state.

Family Fun: Head to Duluth, MN for the North Shore Scenic Railroad’s annual steam train, a six-hour ride to Two Harbors and back on a historic steam locomotive. Its final two weekends of the year are Sept.2-4 and Sept. 9-11. While you’re there, find plenty to do during a Weekend Away in Duluth.

Adults Only: The Minnesota Craft Brewer’s Guild’s 11th Annual Autumn Brew Review takes place Saturday, Sept. 17 at the historic Grain Belt Brewery complex in Minneapolis. Sample beers from more than 75 local brewers across the state, while enjoying live music, food tastings and brewing education events.
